Each Sunday we will be providing a journal topic for the week with a prompt for each day. Set a time each day to journal in a place where you can sit quietly without interruption to reflect on your thoughts. You don’t need to answer the daily prompts, they are provided in case you need a little boost to get your thoughts flowing.
“Keep your dreams alive. Understand to achieve anything requires faith and belief in yourself, vision, hard work, determination, and dedication. Remember all things are possible for those who believe.” ~Gail Devers
Sunday - Read the quote out loud. What is your initial reaction? Why? What about this quote do you agree with? Disagree with?
Monday - Dreams/aspirations can be viewed as big or small and regardless of their “size” they are all worthy of acknowledgment. What are your dreams/aspirations, your life’s purpose? Be aware of the difference between your dreams, other people’s dreams and the expectations of others.
Tuesday - How does this apply to your life right now in this moment? Are you living to fulfill your dreams/aspirations, your life’s purpose or someone else’s?
Wednesday - We all struggle at some point in our lives with the expectations set upon us by others; our parents, family, friends, bosses, co-workers, even society itself. What expectations you allowing to hold you back from achieving your dreams/aspirations? What ‘old recordings’ from your past cast a shadow over your dreams/aspirations, making them difficult for you to define or achieve? Are you holding yourself back? Is there anyone in your life (past or present) who encouraged you to pursue your dreams? How did they encourage you?
Thursday - Now think about the reverse. How have your expectations of others held them back from achieving their dreams? How can you encourage someone to pursue their dreams/aspirations?
Friday - Dreams and aspirations can change over time. Some we don’t pursue at all. Do you have any you regret not pursuing? Why didn’t you? What is stopping you from pursuing it now? Are there any you have achieved? How did you feel the moment you realized you had?
Saturday - After reflecting over the last week, what is your reaction to this quote now? What changed? What stayed the same?
